Mini-Reunion

I had a really cool mini reunion Saturday night. An old friend from high school, Jade was visiting her Mom and we got to have dinner. My best friend Amanda moved back home about six months ago and I haven't taken the time to really hang out with her. Well Jade visiting was a good opportunity to hang out. I am one of those people who LOVES to have the "remember when" conversations. I love to remember old times. I think I like it so much because it makes me realize how blessed I am. I have had such a crazy life and I've done some terrible things, when I think of the way I used to be I am just amazed that God loves me.

The Bible says that we are all predestined for something. God knows the future, he knows every choice we will make. He knew when I was making bad choices and living a terrible life that the day would come that I would listen to his voice. He never gave up on me even though I had turned my back on him. I hated God for the problems in my life. I hated myself, I hated my family. I was a terrible person I did not deserve salvation. I still don't but I'm so thankful for this gift from God. To know that I am forgiven is such a comfort to my soul. Forgiveness changed me. I know if it was not for the grace of God I would probably not be living right now. I definitely wouldn't have the wonderful husband and children that I have.

Anyway my little reunion really brought back a lot of memories from my past. I am truly thankful for what Jesus did for me and for every person ever born.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. To the praise of the glory of his grace wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace. Ouch For Brett!!!

We usually spend Sundays after church out at Chris's parents house. They have fishing, cows, hickory nuts and tons of other fun things to do. Well Chris was off to take the kids fishing and we had an accident. They always ride in the gater and Brett somehow fell out when it wasn't even moving. Chris was getting the fishing poles the gater was parked and Brett just toppled out. Poor guy landed just right on a rock and now we're calling him metal head because he has one staple holding his scalp together. He was pretty brave in the emergency room. He teared up just a bit when they stuck the staple in but he was a big boy. He even got a sucker in the end and that made him happy. He's learned his lesson he says about standing up in the gater. He has a little round blonde patch on the back of his head where the hair is lighter than anywhere else. Well that just happens to be right where the cut is so now he's got a blonde patch AND probably a little scar too.

November Baptizing

My son and my sister were both baptized yesterday. The water was cold but the sun was shining and the wind was still. I don't think Logan realized just how cold the water would be until he stepped in. We warned him but he didn't care ;) Chris and I were both baptized in November of 2000 and it was a whole lot colder than today. We had three baptized from church yesterday. Logan, Kristina and Misty. It was a great day and I'm so thankful to see three more souls saved. God is so great and I'm proud to serve him.

Acts 2:38-41 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:

ELECTION DAY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY ME!!!

Well today I turned 28 and I voted for a new president. We had a homeschool co-op get together today and learned about Elections. It was pretty fun. The kids got to show their election video they made and we got to share what we've learned about elections. We had a vote and Logan won! That's ok because Emily won the online vote. We had Barrack O'Bama, John McCain and Hillary Clinton stuffed dolls to illustrate our presentation to the co-op today. It was so much fun. After we finished we all went to our local polling place where the kids got to see us vote. It was a good day and I'm excited to see who wins. Here are some pictures we took on this election day!

I am sitting here watching the news as I post this and I am amazed at all the people saying they took their kids with them to vote. I was really was worried about how everyone would act with our homeschool group taking all the kids in with us to watch us vote. I am happy to see how many other people did this. It is so important to get out and vote and we need to teach the younger generations how important it is. God Bless America!

Sunday Fun!

Sundays are pretty good days for us. We get up and go to church and after that we go out to spend the rest of the day with Chris's Mom, Dad & Grandma. We usually have Sunday Lunch thanks to Chris's Mom. It's usually really enjoyable, especially for the kids. I like having quality family time. I can't wait until my Mom & Ken get back so we can hang out with them too! While we were visiting this weekend we picked more hickory nuts. The kids love getting out in the woods and "exploring" as they like to say. They always find hide outs and cool rocks. It's always a good time. Here's some pictures we took this weekend.

A Special Day!

Today has been a special day. My oldest son Logan is saved! He has been asking so many questions about life and God and what happens when we die. He's always just assumed we all go to heaven, which is the way it is with innocent children. Recently though, he's been obsessed with the thought of going to hell. He has been so upset over the thought. He kept saying he wanted to be saved but every time we would sit down and ask him about being a sinner he never thought he was. This is the way with children. They cannot understand until they realize they are sinners and all sinners deserve hell. He finally came to realize that today and he was so sad and so sorry. He just told me he wanted to be saved. He told me he believed the Bible and that Jesus died to save him and he was so sorry he was a sinner. It was so sad to see him so under conviction and so scared. He is only six but he's such a sensitive soul. Finally when I was sure he understood and after he'd called his Daddy to tell him all this we knelt down to pray. Logan said such a cute prayer, if this wasn't such a serious matter I would have ran and got my camera to video tape his prayer. I will never forget it as long as I live. He prayed like normal "Dear God, thank you for this day..." and then he said, "please save me God. Please don't let me go to hell." I just cried and cried, and Logan was crying and we prayed together. Then I asked him if he was saved. He said he is and now he is going to heaven too! I know some of my family won't understand this, but the Bible says to believe that Jesus died for us and repent and you will be saved. I believe God's word and so does my son, and God has saved his soul. So now I have two down, two to go! Not that I had anything to do with this. God saved my son today, and my daughter Emily two years ago. He saved me and my husband 8 years ago. I am so blessed with my family and the life God has made for me. Praise God.

ELECTION

We have been studying elections for Social Studies. We are going to have a mock election for our homeschool co-op and we've made a commercial video for our two candidates. It's not Barack Obama or John McCain but it was fun and the kids are learning a lot about elections. If you don't mind leaving a comment on who you would vote for the kids are interested in seeing who wins. Thank You enjoy!

Home Sweet Home...

We recently finished some work on our house. I've been telling everyone I'd post before and after pictures so now I finally have. This is only the outside though, I haven't taken any pictures of the inside yet.

Our House Before Yes It's Scary... The roof leaked bad.

Our House after. New metal roof, vinyl siding and windows.

This is a view of the back of the house. We don't have it cleaned up just yet and the weeds are growing ;) But I wanted to show a view of the new brick.

ZOO!!!

We went to the Dickerson Park Zoo today with our homeschool group. Ugh I'm exhausted!!! It was a lot of fun though. The kids enjoyed themselves. I love our group of kids (and moms), we always have such a good time when we get together to do anything. The kids got to feed the otters and the giraffes. They had a demonstration for us with a turtle, oppossum and an owl. The possum had to poop and that made all the kids laugh... Of course. Here's some pictures and a video of them throwing fish to the otters.

Bitter Sweet

I was taking some time today to go to some blogs and catch up on the lives of some of my relatives. It makes me sad to think that I am a stranger to so many of them. I wish that I could be closer and be a part of their lives but I have such a wonderful life here I wouldn't give it up for anything. It's sad that we have to choose.

I think about my Mom and her moving off to Hawaii. I remember I was so mad when she first told me but then I realized she was doing the right thing going with Ken. He is such a wonderful person and those two are so happy together. My Mom would have been miserable if she hadn't married him and gone away. I pray every day for God to bring them back when the time is right. I want her to be a part of my life and know my children. I don't want her to be a stranger to them.

On a happier note, I now have my sister close. Misty moved almost a year ago and it has been a year full of getting to know each other. Her little girls, Macy and Mattie were strangers to me when they got here, but now they love me! I'm Aunt Kristie, and my kids are their buds. She just had another little baby boy. So now Taylor and Morgan (the new babies) will be able to grow up together and be best friends.

I love my life and I have been blessed by God with such a spectacular family. I try not to take that for granted. Even when I'm missing everyone I try to remember it's all in God's plan. I'll trust him he's never failed me yet.
