Today is pretty dead for a Friday. I'm just sitting here reading the newspaper... not much really going on. These are some of the stories in this weeks local newpaper ;)
Bautista trial for shaking baby will begin March 20....
Ok I totally don't understand WHY it takes so long for a criminal to go to trial. This woman Melinda Bautista, a state certified day care provider, allegedly caused the death of an 11 month old baby from our town April 14th 2005. It's such a sad story and I don't understand how a person could harm something as innocent as a little baby. The family of little Madilyne Wentz started a shaken baby foundation for the Ozarks.

Six seasons ago local Heidi Strobel got her wish to be on the Survivor tv show... She's the one who stripped for peanut butter... Joy! Hopefully if anymore Missouri residents get their chance to be on national tv they won't be so fake... Just my humble opinion :p
Nothing else really interesting in the newspaper :p But Logan sure is being funny. I brought Oreo cookies to work with us today and he keeps trying to do good things to get another cookie.

Whats up with people killing innocent little children. Its disgusting and disturbing. They are such blessings from God. I was told I would never have children due to cysts, well guess what, by the grace of God I was blessed with two little boys that look to be the age of your little guys up there. Isaiah is 4 and Elijah just turned one! I thank the Lord for everyday I am with them, I treat everyday as though it could be my last! You just never know!

I hate to hear of people killing poor innocent children... Makes you wonder how she ever got into the childcare business!! And your right the law allows too much time between the actual crime and punishment!!

That's terribly sad about the baby shaking, babies are just innocent little bodies, you would think that if the parent snapped and was sick of a crying baby, that they would just drive it up to some place and leave it there, that is bad too but at least someone else could take care of it, someone who wants a child. etc.

It's not that I don't respect that everyone has a right to their own religious belief but I wasn't understanding what your perspective was from. If you're a Christian and agreeing that all God's are one that is not a Christian standpoint and it is something I stand up for. Christianity is based on the belief in the one true God.

You are assuming that what you are reading about this woman you are accusing of murder is true. I know her and I can tell you that she did NOT do this. She is a wonderful mother and friend. Melinda Bautista has huge support from everyone who knows her because she has been FALSLEY accused. We look forward to the trial when the truth will be revealed and my dear friend will be united with her family. You know sometimes in cases like these when enough people testify to a lie, the lie becomes "their" truth. Anyway, may God Bless anyone who read this.

Hmmm interesting... were you present when the abuse of this child took place? How can you say it didn't happen if you weren't present. I am basing my facts on the fact that this child was abused in the presence of your "innocent" friend. Even if she didn't personally do this it was her responsibility to make sure it didn't happen. Even though I base my opinion on articles in the newspaper I know that this woman was negligent for causing or letting harm come to this innocent child. Maybe you should re-evaluate your opinion.
I would like to respond to "Jan's" comment... You make several references to "you don't know the facts of this case" and "Melinda has been falsely accused". How do you know the facts of the case? Just because Ms. Baustista is telling her friends and family that she is falsely accused, does not mean that is the truth. As KristieSue asked, were you present? I don't know about your knowledge of shaken baby syndrome, but there isn't a lot of question in the extent of the injuries. These are immediate injuries and, as we all have seen, cause immediate effects. You should read your words and realize that maybe you all are believing Melinda's lies and making it your "truth". Melinda may be a "wonderful mother and friend", but she has a problem and she needs to admit what she has done and pay the price.
I am not Jan, but I have been following this case. Do not presume that Melinda is guilty. The baby was only with her for a short time. When all is said and done, please repent to God and Melinda for slandering this woman (which the Bible clearly admonishes). I pray you are never falsely accused of a crime and have to endure such an experience. This is an awful tragedy, and I'm saddened for the loss of this child...but mark my words, Melinda is innocent. Unless you were there, you should not blindly place blame.
You say she's innocent? Were you there? I don't have to be there to know she was responsible for Madilyne when the injuries took place so I don't have to be present to know she is responsible... You'd have to be there to know she was innocent. So... were you there? Somebody did this to Madilyne, it's not like it was an accident. So if she is innocent someone else did this and if someone else did it Melinda still bears some guilt because she was RESPONSIBLE for Madilyne.
1. You say Melinda is responsible...but if the child was in bad condition when she was droppoed off at Melinda's, how is she then responsible?
2. Others WERE present when this happened.
3. Don't believe everything you read in the paper. They printed, "The police said she said...." Isn't that heresay?
4. In today's paper, it says she told police 14 times that she did not shake the baby.
You people are just wonderful! Hopefully you never serve on a jury. You will convict the person before the trial starts. Whatever happened to innocent until PROVEN guilty?
Yes, what happened to "Innocent until PROVEN guilty?" Melinda was "found" guilty long before the trial. those of you accusing her were not there, and neither were those of us on her side, but: to the accusers - How well do you know Melinda? I know her well and I KNOW in my heart of hearts that she did NOT commit this crime. I, too, am a strong Christian.
"Innocent until PROVEN guilty" is the way our court system works and whether or not I think she is guilty has no bearing on the consequences Melinda will face or not face. I have a God given right to make up my own mind. I am basing my thoughts on this topic from information I have read in the papers.
Melinda Bautista admitted in a taped confession to the crime she is being tried for. THAT is the reason I believe she deserves to be held accountable for her actions, even if she made a mistake... It was an avoidable mistake.
Because I am a Christian I find that everyone thinks I should just think the best of Melinda. Why? She is human just like the rest of us. If she did this out of frustration then that's just proof, she is human. Because I think she should be held accountable does not mean I hate her or am angry at her. I am sad for her and her family. Because of this one terrible sin her entire family will have suffer. Madilyne Wentz paid the ultimate price. How do you think her family feels? Where is your pity for them?
If Melinda Bautista had not confessed to this crime I would agree with you all "Innocent Until Proven Guilty." But she willingly confessed. This person you know so well is only human. She made a mistake. The consequences are inevitable.
TWO WORDS... NOT GUILTY. Please next time you condem a person be sure you know tha FACTS!! 12 people heard the facts The TRUTH in the case and Not Guilty was their verdict. And i will be sure that her lawer is informed of this blog and is included in the slander suite.
The only thing Melinda "confessed" to was using the bouncy seat as it is intended....not sure where you're getting your information, but Melinda said 27 times during that interview that she did not shake Madilyne.
I pray for Madilyne's family that they find peace and God shows them the truth about how Madilyne died. They are not honoring her by continuing to falsely blame Melinda.
God is going to restore the Bautista family, because what satan intends for evil, God will use for good. I pray this is true for all involved.
To kristie sue...some advise..avoid a lawsuit and remove this information from your blog soon. To all of the so called "Christians" who participated in your blog and judged Melinda, there is only one true judge, God almighty. You all may want to read your bibles and learn about him. He judged and Melinda was found innocent. Take the advise kristie sue...I would sure hate to be on the opposite side of their attorney
